Our translation and transcreation work goes far wider than just museums and galleries! We are happy to help with business needs as well, and welcome the nuances of translating marketing efforts. We worked with Maldon Salts to translate their business materials into a wide range of languages. A fantastic artisanal salt brand, we had to be sure to capture the right tone for all of the flavorings and descriptions. Their materials were specific to each product and captured just the right energy for their brand which is over 140 years old. They have been working for decades to perfect their branding, and have a specialised approach to their dialect and flow of written material.
Maldon was looking to expand its market, and appeal more directly to chefs around the world. Their website states “Loved by chefs and cooks the world over – and sought after by gourmets – our unique pyramid flakes continue to inspire to this day. The choice of the passionate and the adventurous.” In order to more directly appeal to these chefs, and gourmets, they reached out to begin the process of transcreation. We translated their material from English into Italian, Spanish, French, German, Dutch, Turkish, Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian, Icelandic, Polish, Portuguese, Arabic, and Simplified Chinese. We refer to this project as transcreation because we focused on keeping the overall voice and style of the host text, even when they were not direct translations. When translating business material, we made sure to keep the content appealing to each local market. Culinary translations can be particularly interesting as it is so unique to each culture! We had a lot of fun working to transcreate this material and make it applicable to all of Maldon's target markets.
